So it’s been an Irvington week for me. The absolutely exceptional service, modern interior, the Tavern on the Green candelabra, rolled up wash cloths and terrific food, I’d happily say I’m a satisfied food snob. Set in the industrial waterfront area of Irvington this place is basically hidden.
We started off with the spicy yellow fin tuna tartare, nice clean presentation. The main course, I had the grilled Scottish salmon, aside from the plate not being wiped down and the slightly soft asparagus, the salmon very fresh and cooked just right. My friend ordered the overly abundant serving of moules frites, of which no muscle was left uneaten.
We both had the strawberry sangria, a definite if that is your thing. The service was one of the best that I have been privy to, a multitude of busboys and waiters constantly clearing the table and refreshing silverware. The restaurant offers wonderful views of the disintegrating Tappan Zee bridge from either the ground level garden or the rooftop lounge. If you are in the area this is one of the best that Irvington has to offer.
